Welcome to the 1st, of what I hope to be an annual Tudor Book Reading Challenge!

Choose your own book list. It doesn't have to be the ones I have on mine!! The idea is to read some books that you have neglected on your bookshelf. If you can't find books that you haven't read about a wife, then choose ones that are Tudor related instead. It's okay to substitute. Nothing is set in stone here. Have fun with it! xo

I have tried this before but it wasn't successful, so I have revamped it, and hope that it will be this time. :)

Rules:

1. To be eligible, you must sign-up with Simply Linked below – link to your list (so create it ahead of time!) and add updated links to each book’s review. Books must be read and must be reviewed (doesn’t have to be too fancy) in order to count as completed.

2. The link you post in the Simply Linked below must be to your “master list” (see mine below). This is where you will keep track of your books completed, crossing them out and/or dating them as you go along, and updating the list with the links to each review (so there’s one easy, convenient way to find your list and all your reviews for the challenge). See THIS LINK for an idea of what I mean. You must have all books read and reviewed on your master list by January 1, 2017 in order to be entered into the drawing!

3. Come back here if/when you complete this challenge and leave a comment indicating that you CONQUERED YOUR 2016 TUDOR BOOK LIST! Every person who successfully reads his/her 12 books (and who provides a working link to their list, which has links to the review locations) will be entered to win a drawing for a $10 gift card for amazon.com. Names will be pulled randomly. There will be only one winner. Drawing will take place January 15, 2017. Winner will be announced here, and sent an email to claim their prize.

Your Goal For 2016: (each year will have a different goal)

You must read 1 NON-FICTION BOOK for each of Henry VIII's wives, and 1 FICTION BOOK for each of his wives (you pick the books you wish to read, but they can't be books read prior to 2016).

If you are new to Henry's wives, this will be fun for you and give you the opportunity to learn more about the wives in both real life and in fiction. Some of you may be partial to one or two wives, but this will give you a chance to get to know all of them. Their names are:

1. Catherine of Aragon
2. Anne Boleyn
3. Jane Seymour
4. Anne of Cleves
5. Katherine Howard
6. Catherine Parr

** If for any reason you have trouble finding a non-fiction book for any of the six wives, you can substitute that book for another Tudor related - non-fiction book of your choice.

Total Books: 12, but you can always read more if you like!

*Note – You can read the books on your list in any order; they do not need to be read in the order you have them listed. As you complete a book – review it, and go back to your original list and turn that title into a link to the review – that will keep the comments section here from getting ridiculously cluttered.

I will be posting once a month on this blog to check in with everybody, and to supply you with a place to link up your book reviews for that month. Look for the link on the 1st of each month. This will help keep everyone on track and accountable for the challenge. You might wish to follow this blog so that you don't forget. :)

In the Title field (Please list your name and the blog name or site of the profile that you are linking up – i.e. Bridgett @The Blessed Book Nut or Bridgett on Goodreads) then add your email address, and the URL to your master list/ bookshelf. When you see your name appear, you will know that you have successfully signed up. Once the form is submitted, you will have to refresh your browser to see it in the line up.

    1. Hi Jo, All you have to do is use the form above to put your name in the (link title) area, your email address and the link to where you will keep track of your reading list - whether it be on a blog like this one, or a bookshelf on your goodreads account. The task is to try to read 6 non-fiction, and 6 fiction books based on something Tudor, preferably a fiction and non-fiction for each wife. This isn't set in stone though. You can deviate from this plan by just simply reading 12 Tudor based books this year. At the end of each month, you will visit this blog, and look for a link up for the month. This is where you will give us a link to your book reviews for the books you have read during that particular month.(You may have more than one link to add if you have read more than one book that month) In order to qualify for the end of the year drawing for a prize (one winner will be picked randomly) you have to review your books and get all twelve read. Pick books that you haven't read yet. Hope this helps. Sorry it seemed so complicated. Merry Christmas!
